The Spotter: Dig or Die brings its unusual digging and mutant-slaying experience
Story Highlights
  • The Spotter: Dig or Die combines mining, roguelike upgrades, and Tower Defense gameplay.
  • You must survive mutant attacks while repairing their receiver to receive a message from the President.

Doghowl Games Ltd has announced the launch of its mining sim and tower defense title, The Spotter: Dig or Die, now available on both Android and iOS for $9.99. Developed by Puppyroar Games, the indie game first arrived on PC in April 2026, received very positive reviews on Steam, and has since arrived on mobile.

Enjoy a blend of daytime mining with nighttime Tower Defense battles

In The Spotter: Dig or Die, you play as the last remaining Spotter, stationed at an unfortunate gas station in the Nevada wasteland. Your job is to protect the base from mutant hordes emerging from the ruins of Las Veganos while waiting for an important message from the President. Things get worse when a massive sandstorm destroys your receiver, leaving you with the task of repairing it before all hope is lost.

The gameplay follows a day-and-night cycle. During the day, you head underground to collect resources, discover artifacts, and upgrade your equipment, including your shovel and jetpack. Once night falls, mutant hordes arrive, and you must defend your gas station using automated machine guns, laser cannons, rocket launchers, barriers, and traps. You can even take control of the main turret yourself when the situation gets out of hand.

Upgrade your defenses and discover artifacts to change every run

Progression is another important part of The Spotter: Dig or Die, with three separate upgrade trees covering your character, turrets, and base. You can also choose between three weapon specializations: Hunter, Suppressor, and Artillerist. Each offers a different combat approach, whether you prefer precise Railgun shots, continuous Tesla Cannon beams, or explosive Cluster Grenade Launcher attacks.

The game also features roguelike artifacts that can change how each run plays out. These include slowing down enemy projectiles, deploying controllable kamikaze drones, and protecting your base with an energy shield. Overall, it looks like a fun combination of two genres, balancing relaxed resource gathering with chaotic nighttime battles while giving you a story-driven reason to keep pushing forward.

The Spotter: Dig or Die is now available on both Android and iOS for $9.99. So, you can download it via the Google Play Store or App Store. You can also check out our upcoming mobile games list.
