Isaac Asimov's Foundation Universe Continues to Expand Beyond Books

Isaac Asimov's Foundation franchise has expanded significantly since the publication of its first novel in 1951. David S. Goyer (Blade, The Dark Knight, Man of Steel) and Josh Friedman (Steven Spielberg's 2005 War of the Worlds) originally created Apple TV+'s 2021 television adaptation. The acclaimed sci-fi series was renewed for a fourth season in September 2025.

"When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization," Apple's official description reads. "Enraged by Hari's claims, the ruling Cleons -- a long line of emperor clones -- fear their unrivaled reign may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their powerful legacy forever."
